Gedney
United Charities Meeting 27th October 2022 Report
to Gedney Parish Council 1/ Presentation of audited
accounts at 30th June 2022 Unrestricted funds £15,566 Restricted funds £10,405 Capital (restricted) £80,000 Total: £105,971 It was pointed out by AP that the Capital
funds were performing well below the current interest rates available. This
was agreed by the Chairman and all other trustees present. £50,000 of these
fixed funds is due to expire early next year and it was agreed that a further
meeting will be held before the expiration date to investigate and decide
where to invest this money for a generous but safe return. The balance of
£30,000 held with COIF will also be looked at but the Secretary indicated
that the current level of low returns should be increased in line with other
savings platforms as well as the other benefits afforded by COIF. 2/ Applications for poor relief
and student grants. There were no applications for poor relief. There were
five applications for student grants which were studied and unanimously
approved. Three were for University studies at £450 each. Two for Higher
education studies at £150 each. 3/ The allocation for the allotment at
Govers Drove agreement has been signed as agreed at the last meeting. 4/ AOB. There was concern expressed by the
Chairman that some of the trustees were allocated positions which they no
longer held and that clarification would be desirable. The Chairman himself
(Mr AD Hicks) is still allocated as representing Gedney Parish Council, for
example. AP said that he had been requested to continue representing Gedney
Parish Council after serving but he had no written confirmation to prove
this. The Chairman said that this was acceptable but the other people that
were no longer councillors may be better clarified as co-opted. Attended and reported by A. Parks
as instructed by Gedney Parish Council 29th October 2022 |
